Privacy Policy

The short version

• Charace has no accounts, no sign-up, and no login. We don't ask for your name, email, or any personal details to play.
• Multiplayer runs directly between nearby devices over Bluetooth. There's no server storing your games, no chat, and no way to connect with strangers.
• We don't collect or store your personal data on our own servers — because we don't run any.
• If you buy a theme pack, the purchase is handled by Apple or Google and by RevenueCat, our purchase-processing provider. That's the only place data leaves your device.
• Crash reports reach us only if you opt in through your device's own settings.

Who we are

Charace is developed and published by Tigerfish Productions LLC, a New York limited liability company doing business as PiousLogic ("we," "us," or "our"). For anything relating to this policy or your privacy, contact us at charace@piouslogic.com.

This policy applies to the Charace app on iOS and Android.

Information we collect

Charace is built to work without collecting personal information about you. We don't operate accounts, servers, or databases that hold your data. In plain terms:

• We do not ask you to register or sign in.
• We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or contacts.
• We do not track your location.
• We do not use advertising or third-party analytics SDKs to profile you.
• We do not sell or share personal information — there is none for us to sell or share.

The limited data that does exist is described in the three sections below: data exchanged between devices during play, data handled when you make a purchase, and optional crash diagnostics.

Playing over Bluetooth (device-to-device)

When you play a head-to-head match, Charace connects your device directly to another nearby player's device using Bluetooth. This is a peer-to-peer connection: the information passes straight between the two devices and does not travel through us or any server we control.

During a match, the two devices exchange:

• the player or device name you have chosen, which is shown to your opponent so each side knows who they're racing;
• game state and statistics for the match in progress — such as progress, scores, and the current typing prompt.

We do not receive, log, or store any of this. If you'd rather not display a personal name to an opponent, choose a nickname or device name that doesn't identify you. Practice mode runs entirely on your own device against built-in bots and involves no connection to anyone.

Purchases (theme packs)

Charace offers optional theme packs you can buy individually. Purchases are processed through Apple's App Store or Google Play, and managed with RevenueCat, a purchase-infrastructure provider that handles the in-app purchase and unlocks what you bought across your devices.

To make purchases work — and to let you restore them if you reinstall the app — RevenueCat, acting as our service provider, processes a limited set of data, which may include:

• a randomly generated, anonymous app user ID (not linked to your name or any account, because there is no account);
• your purchase history for Charace (which packs you bought and whether they're active);
• device and technical information, such as device type, operating system, and IP address, used to complete the transaction and help prevent fraud.

We use RevenueCat's information only to deliver, restore, and support your purchases. We do not use it to advertise to you or build a profile. Apple and Google also process your payment under their own terms — we never see your full payment-card details.

Crash and diagnostic data (opt-in)

If — and only if — you have chosen to share diagnostics with app developers in your device settings, Apple or Google may share anonymized crash and performance reports with us to help us fix bugs. This is controlled entirely by you through your operating system, is governed by Apple's or Google's privacy terms, and can be turned off at any time in your device's privacy settings. We use it solely to improve the app's stability.

Children's privacy

Charace is intended for a general audience aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the app has no accounts and collects no personal data through normal play, there is little for a child or anyone else to disclose to us. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us in some way, contact us at charace@piouslogic.com and we will address it promptly.

How your information is used

To the limited extent any data is involved, it is used only to:

• run a live match between two nearby devices;
• process, unlock, and restore theme-pack purchases;
• fix crashes and improve stability, where you've opted in to share diagnostics.

We do not use data for advertising, profiling, or resale.

Data retention

We don't hold personal data on our own systems, so there's nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf. Purchase records held by RevenueCat, Apple, and Google are retained under their respective policies for as long as needed to support purchases and meet legal and accounting obligations.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (Europe) or the CCPA/CPRA (California) to access, correct, or delete personal information about you. Since we don't maintain personal information about you, most requests will be directed to the relevant provider:

• Purchases: manage or request deletion through your Apple or Google account, or contact us and we'll help coordinate with RevenueCat.
• Diagnostics: turn sharing on or off anytime in your device's privacy settings.
• The name shown in a match: change it on your device at any time.

International users

Charace is offered from the United States. Our providers (Apple, Google, and RevenueCat) may process purchase-related data in the United States and other countries under their own safeguards. By using the app, you understand that any purchase data is handled by these providers as described in their policies.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Charace handles data — for example, if a future version adds a new feature — we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be reflected here before the new behavior takes effect.
